    After Shock Red is the line’s cinnamon variant which was introduced to the world by Jim Beam in order to add an appropriate party drink to their catalogue. An idea that worked out very well for the company. Especially in the UK the drink enjoys great popularity. Here, the rumour evolved that the beverage crystallizes in the drinker’s stomach upon consumption and does not dissolve before the next day’s morning – causing another wave of alcohol to enter the blood stream. This theory is not real, though.

    In 1740 Admiral Edward Vernon enforced a reduction in the strength of the British Navy’s rum ration. When his men complained, Vernon suggested the addition of limes and sugar to make the drink more enjoyable. Old J was created in honour of this unlikely mixologist who was known as Old Grog. Old J Tiki Fire redresses the strength reduction by increasing the strength to 151 proof but keeps the great tasting spicing, lime and sugar to create a truly special rum.
