• Vina Errazuriz Max Reserva Syrah 2012 75cl

Of beautiful violet-red colour, this wine is very attractive and complex in nose, with an expression of red and black fruits, such as raspberries and blueberries, soft hints of violets and a subtle touch of black olives, all tightly knit with sweet spices that come from its aging in oak. The palate matches the nose with flavours that recall ripe black fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel, all along a fresh acidity. It is soft, with ripe and fine tannins that lead to a kind and persistent finish.

It is vivid purple in colour. This wine displays aromas of vanilla, dark berry fruits with a hint of peppery spice. The full bodied palate shows blackcurrant and plum flavours supported within a soft tannin structure that makes this wine immediately approachable.

A mild winter led to a warm and dry growing season with early bud burst. It was relatively cool leading into vintage, which commenced early as a result of normal crop levels and continuing dry conditions. In mid-January, the season remained dry and relatively hot with temperatures in the mfd -40 degree Cs, which continued until mid-February. Healthy leaf canopies prevented the fruit from being affected by the sun, but the warm conditions accelerated ripening. Rain came in mid-February, which delayed grape harvesting and processing by about two weeks and was accompanied by cooler weather. Despite the delay, 2014 proved ultimately to be another good vintage. Best enjoyed young and fresh. Enjoy with pasta, red meat dishes or cheese. It contains 13.5% alcohol by volume.
