Château Sociando-Mallet, Haut Médoc
Château Sociando-Mallet is a dense, fresh, medium bodied Bordeaux, with a blackberry-like flavour and nose and spicy green streak. It is a relatively simple wine that drinks well above its weight and is an impressive example of this vintage, 1998. Château Sociando-Mallet was neither ranked in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855, nor is it listed among Médoc’s Cru Bourgeois, simply due to the decision of its owner Jean Gautreau not to enter it for classification. Despite this, it consistently produces wines that outshine its neighbours that are classified. This is a vineyard that has been going from strength to strength in recent years.

Louis Jadot Nuits Saint Georges 2011 75cl
Nuits-Saint-Georges wines are produced on land delimited by the parishes of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Premeaux-Prissey. The soils are basically composed of limestone and marl. A perfect exposure to the east gives the capacity to produce splendid wines. This wine is vinified in open vats for 3 or 4 weeks and is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months. This wine shows the classic concentration of Nuits Saint Georges with an enticing perfume, rich colour and mouth-filling fruit together with a savoury finish.

Louis Latour Aloxe-Corton, Premier Cru Les Chaillots
Maison Louis Latour presented a dense and creamy 2011 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Chaillots. Latour’s family hometown for over three centuries, Aloxe-Corton, is also home to their famous Chateau de Corton-Grancey and vat house. The name Les Chaillots refers to the vineyard pebble-filled soil. The 2011 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Chaillots displays a shimmering, garnet-tinted, ruby red colour. The nose bears intense Morello cherry and liquorice fragrances. The wine offers a lovely acidity with well blended, round tannins, and a finish refined by a touch of liquorice.
