Hand-crafted in small batches on the island of Barbados- known as the “Rum Island” – Bumbu is delicately blended with some of the world’s purest water, naturally filtered by Barbados’ coral limestone. Unlike most islands in the West Indies (formed by volcanoes), Barbados is a limestone island created by coral reefs. Distilleries elsewhere filter their water – not so for Bumbu as ground water is forced through the limestone and purified naturally.

Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva Familiar Rum 70cl

1888 takes it’s name from the year that Brugal was founded in the Dominican Republic by Don Andres Brugal Montaner.
1888 leads the way in double aging, it is a full-bodied experience that rests first for up to eight years in hand-picked, ex-bourbon American oak casks, followed by a second maturation of up to six years in European oak first-fill sherry casks.
A deep amber colour is the result of this maturation. This is a complex yet balanced rum with remarkable taste and a long smooth finish that evolves in the glass.

In 1740 Admiral Edward Vernon enforced a reduction in the strength of the British Navy’s rum ration. When his men complained, Vernon suggested the addition of limes and sugar to make the drink more enjoyable. Old J was created in honour of this unlikely mixologist who was known as Old Grog.
