    The 1736 Gin Act introduced an annual levy which needed to be paid by anyone wishing to produce and sell gin in an attempt to rid the market of poorly produced and sometimes poisonous ‘gin’. The price of this levy was £50….. Therefore the name Fifty Pounds is a nod to the Gin Act of 1736 where gin made the first steps towards becoming the fine beverage that we know it to be today. As you would expect Fifty Pounds Gin is quintessential London Dry style of gin based on an original high-quality family recipe. Made in south west London at Thames Distillers Fifty Pounds Gin is batch distilled 1000 bottles at a time with each bottle showing the batch number and the year that it was distilled.

    It has been bottled at a very specific 43.4% ABV, as the distillers believe this to be the perfect strength for their expression – not excessively punchy, but with enough power behind it for balance and flavour.

    The bottle design, incidentally, is the work of Robert McGinnis, the American artist who made film posters for various James Bond and Matt Helm films as well as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Barbarella!

  • Copperhead London Dry Gin 50cl

    Mr. Copperhead was a notorious alchemist, in search of the elixir of life. During his pursuit and much to his own surprise, he conjured up an exquisite composition, using a copper pot still and a recipe based on five essential botanicals: angelica, juniper, cardamom, orange peel and coriander seed. The balance of this mix is absolutely perfect. The nose shows a lot of coriander and the juniper is clear with a touch of cardamom to finish. The palate begins where the nose leaves off and cardamom is at the forefront with some sweet orange peel coming through to help give this gin its distinctive length.

    City of London is a one-shot connoisseur’s London dry gin, flavoured with a fine balance of juniper berries, angelica, liquorice and coriander seeds with fresh orange, lemon and pink grapefruit added also to give the gin its distinctive zesty notes. Aroma is pungent, piney juniper aroma with zesty pink grapefruit, orange and lemon. There are also subtle notes of celery, sage and parma violet. It taste clean and characterful. It’s a classic London dry gin with attractive parma violet, orris root, liquorice, zesty citrus and enlivening black pepper sauce. Piney juniper, citrus and subtle peppery spice linger on the palette after tasting.

    Chase Pink Grapefruit & Pomelo Gin is a fabulously fresh addition to the Chase spirit selection – and a must have for a delicious and different G&T serve. The citrusy spirit is a spectacular pairing of pink grapefruit and pomelo – absolutely bursting with fragrant grapefruit tartness and classic, robust notes of juniper. Using Chase GB Gin as the base spirit, Chase Distillery slowly infused a delicate range of eight botanicals including; juniper, orange peel, liquorice, elderflower and bitter almond before finally being distilled in their copper gin still with the pink grapefruit and pomelo peels. Serve: Neat and chilled. Or with a good quality tonic or mixer or try a Grapefruit Gin Fizz :Combine 1 1/2 part Chase Pink Grapefruit & Pomelo Gin 1 part honey syrup,1 part freshly squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice and 1 large egg white in a shaker filled with ice, Shake and strain into a tall glass over cubed ice Garnish with the wedge of grapefruit.
